Women Playwrights International – Indian Theatre – Part One

For seven days in November, women playwrights from around the world converged on the University of Mumbai for the Eighth Women Playwrights International Conference, an event held tri-annually, each time in a different country. This year’s conference gave participants an opportunity to see Indian theatre, ancient and modern. The theme: Liberty and Tolerance.
Women’s Caucus Makes Waves on International Women’s Day
March 8, 2010On this year’s International Women’s Day, members of PGC’s Women’s Caucus took the opportunity to remind theatre companies of the need to produce works by female playwrights. Scripts by some of Canada’s leading writers were sent to the Artistic Directors of Montreal’s Centaur Theatre Company, Vancouver Playhouse, and Soulpepper Theatre in Toronto.
